About Jahazi Pier

Let me introduce you to Jahazi Pier, a restaurant tucked away Off Wavamunno Rd in Kampala, Uganda, that instantly feels like a little escape from the city rush. When people ask me where to eat when they want good food and an easygoing atmosphere, Jahazi Pier is usually the first name that comes up. The vibe is relaxed and social, with outdoor seating that makes afternoons stretch into evenings without you noticing, and a dining space that works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for late-night catch-ups. The menu is designed for variety, so whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or planning to settle in for an all-you-can-eat experience, there’s always something that fits the mood. I like how the offerings balance comfort and choice, from flavorful halal food and organic dishes to vegan and vegetarian options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. Drinks are a big part of the experience too, with cold beers, well-mixed cocktails, wine, and spirits flowing easily, especially during happy-hour food and happy-hour drinks that keep the place buzzing. Coffee lovers can also linger here, which adds to that laid-back, stay-a-while feel. Service is flexible, and that’s another reason I often recommend Jahazi Pier; you can dine in, grab takeaway on the move, or order delivery and no-contact delivery when convenience matters more than ambience. Everything about the restaurant feels approachable and unpretentious, from the small plates meant for sharing to the friendly rhythm of service that never feels rushed. If you enjoy places where good food, good drinks, and good company naturally come together, Jahazi Pier fits right into that space without trying too hard. On busy days, the energy stays upbeat without becoming chaotic, and the staff seem to understand when guests want to chat and when they want to be left to enjoy the moment.

I needed some Healing from the Waves of Natural water so I went to Munyonyo to search for a Shoreline and Jahazi Pier was the most appropriate. Visited on a Thursday evening/afternoon. I loved the atmosphere and didn't really experience an the thing else apart from seating by the water. I also went for a short Boat Ride and I really enjoyed the healing which I got. I can't wait to go back. I paid a small entrance fee of only Ush 4,000 in which I redeemed water at the bar

This is the largest serene and natural environment by the lake I have ever experienced in Kampala. If you need a calm place to chill or talk in private, Jahazi Pier is the place to be. To management, the washrooms could be made better.

It’s always a great experience at Jahazi, very delicious food and so many options on the menu, there’s more than enough space Tight security, Beautiful and natural views, extraordinary customer service and a huge parking space. It is special how they keep a huge but clean and calm atmosphere at Jahazi. It is very pleasing!

This venue is located in Munyonyo, a surburb of Kampala, overlooking Murchison Bay on Lake Victoria. There is front gate security. You are immediately struck by the beauty and tranquility of the grounds. A large variety of trees, half of them fruit, sit on a mixture of natural vegetation and well kept lawns. I was warmly greeted by staff , who wore matching uniforms, very professional. My table had magnificent lake view - nice tables and chairs - the gardens are well kept, beautiful flowers, magnificent trees and manicured lawns. Breakfast was a pot of African coffee and a fruit platter, a 'Rolled Eggs' or 'Rolex' -an omelette with onions, tomatoes and peppers, rolled in a chapati. It was tasty, nicely seasoned and presented. Coffee was very nice. Albert and Karanja are the magnificent chefs here. After breakfast, I relaxed with my computer tablet- a refreshing gentle breeze coming from the lake. I walked around the grounds down to the lake - plenty of bird life namely marabou storks, cormorants, crows and Kingfishers. Gentle waves break the lake shore, nice and clean, with palm trees. You are struck by the large variety of plants and trees - amazing colours. It is evident that Jahazi does its own fishing on a daily basis, so fresh fish on the menu. The owners clearly respect the environment and I saw no evidence of plastic lying around the grounds and lake shore. I sense a strong desire to preserve the local natural environment - plant species, birds, fish, animals. This venue is clearly run, mindful of the ecosystems and the rural communities around them that depend on these for their livelihoods. For lunch, Patience, a waitress served me. I had deep fried fresh Tilapia and golden chips - all seasoned and tasty , nice glass of house white wine. After lunch ,I relaxed with my computer tablet, enjoying the lake view. I walked around the rest of the grounds, struck by the menagerie of trees with enormous canopies - mango, guava and jack fruit trees, and non fruit trees. The vegetation is diverse, given the micro climate provided by the lake. There are hundreds of trees, a natural habitat for plants and wildlife. There are birds everywhere on this natural ecological habitat - I saw a tree lined vegetation area, home to some monkeys - friendly and harmless, high up in the trees . There is endless beauty of natural vegetation, trees, fruits, bird life etc . This venue has maintained all the trees as their natural beauty and bio diversity is as much a pull factor to this venue, as the lake view is. For afternoon tea, I had African tea and spice. I was served by Agnes and once again very professional and efficient - my tea arrived in good time and very tasty. By late afternoon, it got busier. The food and beverage manager, Irene, and her staff were proactive, seating customers and promptly taking orders. At sunset the views remain magnificent There is a nice log fire outside at Sunset. For dinner, I was served by Sarah, one of the waitresses. I ordered the goat choma (slowly roasted goat ) with chips and fresh chili sauce, a glass of house dry red wine - very well presented and tasty plates of food. Music plays throughout the day it's tempo changes to suit the time of day. Given the quality of food, drink and service I received all day, the bill was very reasonable. I settled my bill with the cashier, Fatuna. I used the washrooms(toilets) and these were very clean. This venue is an absolute gem. It has maintained its natural beauty, original trees and natural vegetation. I understand the owners are inspired by the saving of the planet for future generations - ensuring the business is run with sustainability in mind. I strongly recommend a visit to this venue, not only is the food and service magnificent but both the views of the lake and the surrounding nature and bird life are breathtaking. It is a wonderful venue for every type of customer - be it for tranquility, families and those who simply love nature and wildlife. I cannot compliment Jahazi and its surrounding beauty enough.

You have to pay 4K on weekdays and you receive a drink with that entry fee, on weekends it’s 5k and no drinks included. Despite the entry fee it’s a lovely place, clean and tables and chairs available and waiters. you can pay with cash or mobile money.

It’s a natural place to chill in rich with trees and beach… it has a cool environment greatly for picnic and fun moments. Jahazi pier is a place to chill with friends and families Their prices are fairly fair according to other places though you are required to pay an entry fee but otherwise I do nominate this place. Go and enjoy a nice view at the beach while sipping tasteful drink.

What an amazing place, right next to the greatest lake in Africa wow, so much potential. This place just needs a bit of TLC that’s tender loving care for those that don’t know and a bit of capital. Right now you can come and enjoy fresh fish, cooked on the spot, it takes time but it’s worth the wait. The restaurant is basic but it’s a really cool place, staff are lovely as usual with a Ugandan service team. Loads of wild life, some amazing birds like the marabou stalk, little monkeys too, spears there and also playing around. Surrounded by beautiful tropical trees too so if you need some shade you have it. Entrance is 3000 UGX which is less than £1. Gab a picnic blanket and your friends go chill for the day by the greatest most amazing lake in the world, it’s a tropical paradise here, you’ll get some amazing pictures just to remember the whole experience. Enjoy guys and gals. I visited here again today and stayed till the evening while the sun went down, it’s such a lovely peaceful place, love the way they have lit the trees with lights, looks beautiful at night.
